This is a self-help book with a difference. It isn't 'worthy'; it doesn't preach and it doesn't cloak readers in a wave of sympathy. No. It takes a positive approach to the misfortunes any one of us is likely to encounter - a surfeit of burdensome responsibilities; illness; infidelity; the fact that, just occasionally, life isn't 'fair'. And sometimes the pacy, racy text makes the reader laugh - at shared, acknowledged and hopefully overcome predicaments experienced by the two authors and well-known literary figures - authors, poets, journalists - down the ages. The book is admirably well researched, jauntily written yet with an authoritative style, and truly a 'must read' for any woman (and why not men, too?) who can't always see the wood for the trees. Hey Nonny kept me awake night after night until past two in the morning, and not many books do that.
