Fresh off the release of their first full length album in 2024, “Dont Buy It”, The Box Band showcases their unique collective songwriting skills. You can hear influences of Jazz, World Music, Funk, and country all while being rooted in traditional bluegrass. Their live shows are full of energy and musical engagement with each other, leading to spontaneous improvisation and new sounds every show. This band is not bored when they play!

The songwriting is honest, and at times comical and it knows it is.

This quintet is always pushing boundaries of what can be done in a bluegrass style instrumentation, with an emphasis on each player’s contributions.

Guitarist Mike Morgan’s intricate compositions, Mandolin player David Hannibal’s unique song writing, Trevor Mooney’s impeccable Bass playing, Georgia Rae’s virtuosic fiddle work and Collin Nordine’s singing and influence of Latin and jazz drumming all combine for a fresh and memorable sound. The bottom line is The Box Band is “Bluegrass. Outside The Box”.
