It is almost summer — time for the First Annual Hey Nonny Blessing of the Fleet Show! You bring some representation of your boat or the boat you’d like to have, or you dress in ridiculous maritime garb, and Father Weber will be there to bless you and all of your water-related endeavors for the 2020 season.
As if that weren’t enough, there’ll be real entertainment by the Bounding Main, an a capella singing group specializing, naturally, in maritime tunes. . . . with an undue emphasis on the bawdier and funnier examples of the genre. Bounding Main is a 5-member group formed in 2003 that has performed their magical mix of a capella maritime music and sea shanties all over the world. In those years, Bounding Main has issued six albums of great maritime music. Its not going overboard to say these guys will give you goosebumps and laugh convulsions at the same time.
We’ll offer a great maritime menu for dinner during this show. So when you buy tickets, there’s just two kinds: (1) I’m just coming for the show; and (2) Show + I’m planning to eat. Of course, food is not included in your ticket price. But there will be tasty nuggets from the deep available if you plan to dine.
So, as long as you can tell a winch from a wench, check out this show.
“One of the best a capella albums I have ever heard. I kid you not, there were several occasions when I was covered in goosebumps from the sheer marvelousness of the sounds emanating from my speakers.”
