The Continental String Ensemble is led by violin virtuoso (and Arlington Heights resident) Edgar Gabriel. For this show, the CSE will transport the audience to the summer of 1893, when Chicago World’s Fair made our town the center of world culture. That summer, people and exhibitors came to Chicago from all over the world. In parlors, the chamber music too came from all over the world. On January 27, the Continental String Ensemble will bring to the Hey Nonny stage an intoxicating array of the chamber music popular in that era, with pieces from Europe, South America, and even the good old USA.
