About the Artist

Chicago-based pianist and composer Jake Victor has been crafting his unique musical voice since the age of 4. Victor’s influences range far and wide, from Bach to Ambrose Akinmusire, and from The Bad Plus to Steve Reich; he is dedicated to creating music incorporating all of his ever-changing influences into something new and of the moment. In 2018 Victor co-won the prestigious Downbeat Magazine Student Music Award for “Best Undergraduate College Small Jazz Combo” for two selections from his debut album Twisted Heads by the Amsterdam-based Jake Victor 5tet. Now graduated from Lawrence University, he looks to continue this momentum with his next project, the Chicago-based Jake Victor Quartet, an all-star selection of young rising talent which debuted in July.
