🎵 “These shows were made for dancin’,” and that’s just what you’ll do at Hey Nonny’s new monthly dance series. These shows are specially designed for dancing — focusing on a different dance style each month. Each event will begin at 7pm with a group dance lesson led by a dance instructor, followed by two hours of dancing to live music starting at 8pm.
About the Instructor:
Chris Dunlay is a Chicagoland transplant from Iowa, where he first got involved in dance. His main focus is Lindy Hop and Blues dancing, which he has been involved with since 2005 while leading the University of Iowa Swing Dance Club. Also, Chris has competed in collegiate ballroom competitions during his graduate school years whilst helping to lead the Hawkeye Ballroom Dance Company. Chris is currently an instructor at Swinging at the Sands.
Swinging at the Sands is every 1st Thursday of the month at Downers Sand Club in a private room. Beginner and intermediate lessons are available before the open dancing. Full bar and over 4000 square feet of wood floor for dancing!
About the Band:
The Flat Cats, based in Chicago, IL, play a range of vintage and modern music rooted in the hottest swinging jazz and blues, contemporary classics, and timeless standards. Whether you choose to listen, tap your foot, or cut a rug on the dance floor, you are sure to be entertained! The group is comprised of six talented musicians with years of performing, arranging, and composing experience.
