About the Artist

About Darren Garvey:

Well-loved for passionately supporting other artists as a drummer and producer in the indie-pop and folk scene for over 20 years, Garvey sings with the rhythmic clarity of a percussionist and drums with the precision of a poet.  His expressive and inventive style has been utilized by a myriad of artists and bands through his time living in Chicago, Colorado, and more recently Milwaukee.

Darren released his debut solo record “Under a Common Ceiling” in 2010, and has since put out the 2018 EP “Heart Attack Sleeves” and a split-EP with Midwest guitar legend Dan McMahon entitled “Social Distance” in March of 2020.  Darren keeps busy as a member of Elephant Revival, a unique sextet of multi-instrumentalist songwriters, and is releasing his sophomore full-length solo album “As A Scribble” in 2025.

About Sturtz:

NPR’s All Songs Considered described the band as “a reassuring breath of fresh air that pulls me back to simpler times.” The acoustic quartet – Andrew Sturtz [vocals, guitar], Courtlyn Carpenter [cello, harmonies], Will Kuepper [bass, harmonies], and Jim Herlihy [banjo, harmonies] – is serene and folksy, with melodic vocals soaring over the lower string instrumentals. Sturtz released their debut album You’ve Done this Before in August 2021, and now they are hard at work recording a second album that is set to release in September 2024. When they’re not playing music, you’ll probably find them milling flour, farming, laying in a creek, or eating native foliage.
