About the Artist

Typhanie Monique is clearly Chicago’s most adventurous and versatile singer. She’s a queen of funk, a doyenne acid jazz, a virtuoso hip-hop improviser, and a deeply emotional and swinging singer of great American songs. JazzTimes magazine describes Typhanie as a “modern-day Sarah Vaughan with iridescent traces of Lena Horne.” She has performed with Manhattan Transfer and Mavis Staples, and in the greatest jazz clubs around the country, including Small’s Jazz Club in New York, the Dakota in Minneapolis, and the Jazz Showcase in Chicago.
