About the Artist

About Jo Ann Daugherty:

Pianist Jo Ann Daugherty loves making all kinds of music. Some of her favorite recent appearances include: NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert with SIX, a role as featured onstage pianist with the Washington National Opera in Songbird at the Kennedy Center, touring with the AfroBop Alliance Big Band’s Pan American Nutcracker, and regularly sold out shows at Winter’s Jazz Club in Chicago. She has played venues around the world including Chicago Jazz Festival, Satchmo Fest New Orleans, Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai, and Havana Jazz Festival in Cuba, and her 2017  jazz album Bring Joy  was listed by Downbeat magazine as one of the year’s best. www.JoAnnDaugherty.com

About Sarah Marie Young: 

Sarah Marie Young is an award winning (Montreux Jazz Competition, Thelonious Monk Competition) singer, songwriter and musician. She has been featured with Postmodern Jukebox, Playing For Change’s “Skin Deep” video with Buddy Guy, and has played festivals on tour all over Europe and Brazil. With four albums out, Sarah also sings with the acoustic group, The Oh Yeahs, and is a songwriter for the Story Jam storytelling series. In 2020, she began producing her own children’s music show, Sarah’s Music Room, for the National YMCA, and released two children’s EPs in 2021. Her holiday album The Most Wonderful Time was released in 2022. Currently you can find Sarah singing around town, and leading Chicago’s premier event band, Rendezvous.

About Anisha Rush:

Born and raised in Colorado Springs, CO, saxophonist, composer, and educator Anisha Rush began playing the saxophone at the age of 10 and immediately developed an interest in improvised Black American music. Anisha went on to study music and psychology, earning a BM in Jazz Studies from the Thompson Jazz Studies Program and a BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Anisha actively performs as bandleader of Anisha Rush and the Encounter. She has also performed alongside Makaya McCraven, Ron Miles, Matt Wilson, Dawn Clement, Shane Endsley, and more. In 2023, Anisha was selected for the Next Jazz Legacy, an apprenticeship program led by New Music USA and the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice with support from the Mellon Foundation.
